Deities: The Moolavar is Naanmadiyapperumaal (Venchudarpperumaal) in a standing posture facing east; Taayaar here is Thalaichchanga Naachiyaar. The Utsavars are Vyomajyotipiraan and Senkamalavalli. A priceless conch adorns the image of Naanmadiyapperumal; the image of Andal here is of great beauty.

Legend in the Shivasthalam enshrining Shankharunaatheswarar  in this village holds that Vishnu was blessed with a conch (the foremost of all conches - Thalai Changu) upon worshipping Shiva. Thirutthalaichankaadu is also known as Shankharanyam or Shankhuvanam.
